Sendence Raises $1.5M in Seed Round

July 14, 2017

Real-time application platform startup Sendence has raised $1.5 million in a seed round. Boldstart Ventures, Contour Venture Partners, Greycroft, Notation Capital, and Resolute Ventures all contributed to the cause.

The platform from New York City-based Sendence aims to make it easier for companies to build, test, and run applications. Sendence’s Wallaroo solution does that by automating the provisioning of infrastructure resources needed to enable those applications. That way, organizations can spend their time creating software rather than focusing on the underlying infrastructure and related scaling challenges.

The Wallaroo solution can be applied to a wide variety of use cases in such areas as advertising (including ad exchanges, fraud detection, and real-time bidding), cloud-based analytics (including fleet tracking, infrastructure monitoring and alerts, and industrial manufacturing), cybersecurity (including denial of service attacks, intrusion detection, and risk profiling), data consolidation and supervision (including central risk and trade warehouse, communication compliance and archiving, and enterprise knowledge bases), financial services (including payments, real-time risk, trade positions and limits, and trading simulations), and predictive analytics (including customer engagement, matchmaking, NLP and sentiment analysis, and outpatient monitoring).

Some of the quotes on the Sendence website illustrate how Wallaroo can help data scientists, analytics and algorithmic developers, as well as data engineers, architects, and providers of data infrastructure to realize new efficiencies.

“Wallaroo provides powerful APIs that make building low-latency, high-throughput applications easy and gratifying,” comments Sylvan Clebsch, designer of the Pony programming language. “No other platform combines stream-processing with in-memory state management, seamless scaling, and high-performance support for Python, C++, Golang, and Ponylang development.”

Meanwhile, Dan Petrozzo, who in the past has served as the CIO of Morgan Stanley and managing director at Goldman Sachs, says, “Anyone building real-time applications needs to take a close look at Wallaroo. It will accelerate development and take away complexity. The fact that you don’t need to worry about managing distributed state or inter-process communication means you get the job done right and fast.”
