Validation by Wind River Expands Sonus' NFV Onboarding Ecosystem

When two companies decide to collaborate and make the products and services they offer available to each other, a validation process is initiated in order to ensure their customers can deploy the solutions without any compatibility issues. For Sonus, it meant testing and validating its Session Border Controller Software edition (SBC SWe) solution with Wind River's Titanium Cloud ecosystem, which was successfully completed. This now means Sonus and Wind River can deliver carrier-grade performance, availability, and reliability to service providers with verified SBC Virtual Network Function (VNF) solutions.

Since the Sonus SBC SWe is a cloud native solution, the Wind River Titanium Cloud ecosystem will give service providers the ability to deliver real-time communications in the cloud, while at the same time being able to quickly onboard Sonus' NFVI partner network in Wind River environments.

As a fully integrated, reliable and deployment-ready portfolio of virtualization software products, Titanium cloud allows service providers to deploy virtualized services with guaranteed uptime and at lower cost with faster time-to-market. For service orchestration and VNF vendors as well as Network Functions Virtualization Infrastructure (NFVI) providers, it means more opportunities with validated and tested solutions in a multi-vendor cloud ecosystem.

The alliance between Sonus and Wind River is timely, as collaborative communications solutions are now in high demand. The SBC SWe is a software-based cloud native SBC architected platform that makes real-time communications possible with the same security, transcoding, and signaling and media interworking as Sonus' hardware-based SBC appliances.

The Sonus SBC SWe uses the same software of the company's SBC 5000 and SBC7000 Series products, which are hardware based solutions. With the SBC SWe, there isn't a box, but according to the company, the virtualization strategy it has adopted lets it deliver secure and scalable real-time communications in any cloud environment with just a click of a mouse. The company says it can be integrated into any service provider’s or enterprise’s NFV strategy.
