Cablenet Deploys Oracle's Full Suite of IMS and VoLTE Capabilities

February 16, 2017

Without a fully optimized network, telecommunication service providers are not capable of delivering the services consumers and organizations are now demanding. One of these providers, Cablenet Communications Systems, which offers broadband services, fixed telephony and television, is deploying technology from Oracle Communications to modernize and future proof its IMS network and accelerate its VoLTE rollout. According to the company, with the solutions from Oracle in place, it will improve its overall business. It will be more agile in delivering its services and be able to accelerate the time to market for new products and services while streamlining ongoing operations in order to be more competitive in the marketplace.

Cablenet is going to deploy Oracle Communications Unified Session Manager (OCUSM) and Oracle Communications Evolved Communications Application Server (OCECAS) to support value added services, including a virtualized NFV-capable network architecture along with VoLTE capabilities.

“Oracle's NFV-ready IMS solution will provide Cablenet true service agility with out-of-the-box service creation for VoLTE and VoWiFi. Our Oracle solutions will reduce our OPEX significantly and provide an excellent return on investment,” said Yiannos Michaelides, Management Information Systems Manager for Cablenet.

With OCUSM, Cablenet is going to have a complete set of standard-compliant 3GPP IMS functions and interfaces in a single platform so it can accelerate its IMS rollout and converge its disparate fixed and mobile access networks. This will lay the groundwork for advanced next generation services that can run across devices and locations, which will be driven by NFV-capable solutions. It will cost the company less money upfront because it won't have to invest in the hardware, therefore it can meet the evolving business demands by closely aligning ongoing capital expenditures.

For its VoLTE, Cablenet is going to be working with OCECAS to accelerate the rollout and simplify future services such as VoWiFi with carrier-grade performance and reliability for revenue-critical services by simplifying application lifecycle management.

“Oracle NFV enabled IMS solutions provide simplicity in design and operation, enabling a low cost of ownership and a faster and easier rollout of services such as VoLTE and VoWiFi. We're pleased that Cablenet will be able to enjoy such positive return-on-investment with our OCUSM and OCECAS solutions,” said Doug Suriano, senior vice president and general manager, Oracle Communications.

Service providers such as Cablenet are operating in a highly competitive marketplace, and they are looking for solutions that will help improve their overall operations to introduce revenue generating products and services with greater speed to the marketplace. With Oracle's technology, it will have the tools to introduce the latest wired and wireless services for its customers.
