This week, coffee buff Starbucks said it’s augmenting its communications application with a virtual assistant.
The new voice-driven ordering system known as, “My Starbucks Barista,” allows a user to place an order via a mobile device using the same language that users would use to place an order in a Starbucks location.
The company is also working on the Starbucks Reorder Skill for Amazon Alexa so customers are able to re-order a standard item just by being near an Alexa device and issuing the simple command: “Alexa, order my Starbucks.”
Dialogic’s PowerMedia XMS makes it possible for service providers to deliver real-time media intensive applications in the cloud.
TMC also was busy this week hosting ITEXPO down in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Subsentio and Sonus made a big announcement from the event that Subsentio’s newly-released Virtual Safe Harbor Intercept Mediator (SHIM) has completed successful integration with Sonus Networks’ Session Border Controller Software Edition (SBC SWe).
Subsentio is a CALEA compliance company that offers technology, legal expertise and direct experience with law enforcement to its customers.
Also at ITEXPO this week, Vertical Communications announced the release of Vertical Wave IP 6.0.
The offering will be provided as a fully virtualized cloud communications solution and includes a new Web browser app so users can leverage cloud microservices for RTC and other productivity tools.
