Communications Developer Zone Week in Review: Skype, Prinova, Dialogic & More

December 16, 2016

Welcome to the Week in Review, where we take a look at all the top communications developer news this week.

The week started off with the news that Prinova and RR Donnelley have been collaborating for more than five years by bringing together the former’s Messagepoint customer communications platform with the latter’s digital solutions. According to Michael Guta, “The Prinova Messagepoint platform is designed to fully support an omni-channel strategy when it comes to customer, member or employee engagement. It allows RR Donnelly and its digital solutions to improve the experience, ensure compliance and lower costs while delivering personalized, targeted messaging and content across multiple channels without the need of IT personnel.” You can find Guta’s full coverage HERE.

Meanwhile, Skype has also gotten an upgrade to make communicating easier.  Skype’s translator function has been around since 2014, but was severely limited.  For instance, a person using Skype could thus not use the translator function when calling a mobile phone or a landline. However, all those problems are about to change. This week, Skype announced that the translator will now work across all platforms. Find out more about this exciting new development HERE.

In other news, TMC’s Steve Anderson took a look at a blog post from Dialogic this week and discussed what exactly is driving the big gains in automation for communications developers. According to Anderson, the answer is pretty simple. He dives into this question, while simultaneously discussing what automation is and how it can help companies HERE.

Finally, the week rounded out with some insight into how real time communications can help first responders save lives. Frank Griffin writes, “A demonstration conducted by ESChat, Intrepid Networks, Redline Communications and Sonim Technologies during a game for The Ohio State University's football game highlighted the importance of having a dedicated LTE network to manage security and public safety for first responders. In the demonstration, they used the ESChat integrated push-to-talk (PTT) solution to communicate.” Find out more about this offering and how it can make a major difference in response time and success rates HERE.

While a variety of topics have been highlighted here, that’s certainly not all that went on this week. Be sure to head to the communications developer homepage for all the updates, and remember that the Communications Developer Zone wants to hear from you!
